Web design in Sant Boi de Llobregat: the site you can change yourself

Most of the websites we see around here are not badly made: they are frozen. Nobody inside the business can touch them, so they age on their own.

When we talk about web design in Sant Boi de Llobregat with a local business, the conversation almost never starts with design. It starts with a very specific complaint: «changing my opening hours takes two emails and three days». That is the real problem, and a prettier template does not fix it.

Two shop owners updating their website from the laptop on the counter

A city of small businesses

The numbers explain it better than any speech. According to the Catalan statistics institute, Sant Boi has 85,317 residents across 21.47 km², which works out at 3,973.8 people per square kilometre. But the figure that matters here is a different one: there are 1,894 contribution accounts and 4,425 self-employed workers, and 4,105 jobs in workplaces with nine employees or fewer.

Translated: most businesses in town are one person or a handful of them. Nobody here has a department that calls the agency every Tuesday. If the site can only be touched from outside, it does not get touched.

The problem is not the design, it is that the site is frozen

Decent sites, with good photos, that have been carrying three-year-old opening hours for three years. The chain is always the same: something needs changing, somebody has to be emailed, you wait, it becomes a chore, it gets pushed to next week and it never gets changed.

The cost never shows up on an invoice and it is one of the most expensive there is: the customer reads the old hours, turns up at the door and finds it closed. That customer does not check your site again, they check the one next door.

The Thursday afternoon test

It is the fastest one we know and you can run it right now. Go into your website and try to change Thursday afternoon opening hours. Nothing else.

If it takes you two minutes, the site is yours. If you have to email somebody, the site belongs to someone else and you are only renting it. It is not a technical question, it is a question of who you have to ask permission from to say what is going on in your own business.

Six things you have to be able to change yourself

You do not need to be able to rebuild the whole site. You need to be able to touch what changes, which is always the same and always small.

  1. Opening hours and holidays, including the odd week in August.
  2. Phone, WhatsApp and address, which change less often but urgently when they do.
  3. Any prices or rates you publish.
  4. The photos, so they show this month work and not day one.
  5. The copy for each service, when you drop something or start something new.
  6. A temporary notice at the top: closed for holidays, building works, the street is closed.

None of the six touches the structure of the site. They are data, not building work.

And four things better left alone

This is not about trust. It is that four specific things break very easily and are very hard to fix.

  • The structure and the page addresses. Changing an address without a redirect throws away rankings that took months: it is in migrating your website without losing rankings.
  • How many pages there are and what each one is for, which is a strategy decision rather than maintenance: we cover it in website structure.
  • The titles and descriptions that show up on Google, written once and with some thought.
  • The forms and where they land, because when they stop arriving nobody notices for a month.

What changes every week in Sant Boi

A wooden crate of seasonal vegetables, what changes every week on the counter

There is one detail this town has that its neighbours do not: the Baix Llobregat agricultural park runs through it, and the statistics institute counts 668 hectares of farmland across 84 holdings inside the municipality. Where there are seasons, what you sell changes every few weeks.

And it does not only happen on a greengrocer counter. It happens to the garage doing pre-MOT checks this month, to the hairdresser changing the price of a colour and to the clinic that opens on winter Saturdays. A business moves faster than a website you have to ask permission to edit.

Opening hours have to match in two places

This is the most repeated mistake and the cheapest to fix. Your hours live in two places: on your site and on your Google listing. When you change one and forget the other, the customer sees two different truths and believes whichever appears first, which is almost always Google.

That is why both changes have to cost the same: two minutes. How the listing is set up and what to check every month is in the Google Business listing, and that is also what our Google Business posts are for.

How you build a site that can be touched without breaking

The trick is not handing over more permissions, it is handing over the right ones and making them obvious. What works for us after a good few years is this.

  • Fields, not blank pages. One box that says «hours» and another that says «notice», not an infinite editor where everything can come apart.
  • What changes, kept apart from what does not. Design on one side and data on the other, so changing a price moves nothing else.
  • A preview before publishing, to see how it looks without risking it.
  • An automatic backup before every change and a button to go back.

With that, somebody who has never touched a website changes the opening hours without fear. And fear is what really freezes websites.

The mistake of asking for the biggest content manager

Plenty of people ask for «WordPress with everything» thinking it buys them freedom, and get the opposite: a dashboard with forty options, twenty plugins updating themselves and the feeling that touching anything will break it. So nothing gets touched.

When a well-known content manager pays off and when something small and custom is better is compared in WordPress or a custom website. And what maintenance should include is in website maintenance.

We'll tell you in a ten-minute conversation

Being able to change it is half of it; owning it is the other half

Being able to edit the site is worth little if the domain, the hosting and the email are in the name of whoever built it. It is the first thing we check when a new client comes in, and the thing that causes the most grief when it is wrong.

How to check it in five minutes is in who owns your domain, and the order that stops you losing anything along the way is in changing web agency.

What we ask for before starting

Writing by hand the list of what changes in the business before starting the site

Two short lists, both written by the client in ten minutes. The first: what changes in your business and how often. The second: who is going to change it.

If the answer to the second one is «nobody, you will do it», that is fine too and we build it that way, but it is worth saying up front, because the site gets designed differently. What does not work is assuming.

What a website costs in Sant Boi de Llobregat

Our rates are published on pricing, with no need to request a quote to find out the price. Tu Landing is 100 € a month, a single page that explains what you do and collects enquiries. Tu Web is 200 € a month, with up to ten subpages and one article a month. Both include the domain, high-performance hosting, email and maintenance, and the domain is registered in your company name.

If you also want content, an actively managed Google listing and visibility inside AI assistants, the presence plans are 400, 750 and 1,500 € a month. All plus VAT and with no lock-in. What changes from one quote to another is broken down in how much a website costs.

From Sant Antoni de Calonge, working with Sant Boi businesses

We work out of the Palau Firal in Sant Antoni de Calonge and run websites for businesses all over the area. For local matters, Sant Boi de Llobregat town council publishes trade paperwork and the city diary, and the Baix Llobregat county council collects the business support programmes for the area.

If you want to see how we approach a site in a neighbouring town, the one next door is web design in Cornellà de Llobregat. And if you would rather get to the point: send us through the contact form or over WhatsApp the address of your current site and the last thing you wanted to change and could not. With that we will tell you whether it needs rebuilding or just unlocking.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about web design in Sant Boi de Llobregat

What should I be able to change myself on my business website?+

Six things: opening hours and holidays, phone and address, any prices you publish, the photos, the copy for each service, and a temporary notice at the top. They are data that change along with the business, not building work. If any of the six means emailing somebody, the site will go stale.

And what is better left alone?+

Four: the structure and the page addresses, how many pages there are and what each is for, the titles and descriptions that show on Google, and the forms and where they land. They break easily and mend badly: changing an address without a redirect throws away rankings that took months.

What does a website cost in Sant Boi de Llobregat?+

Tu Landing is 100 € a month (one page) and Tu Web 200 € a month (up to ten subpages and a monthly article), both with domain, hosting, email and maintenance included and the domain in your company name. The full presence plans are 400, 750 and 1,500 € a month. All plus VAT and with no lock-in.

Do I need WordPress to be able to change things myself?+

No. What you need is for somebody to have separated what changes from what does not, and to leave you a few clear fields with a preview and a backup. A huge content manager with forty options usually achieves the opposite: touching anything feels so risky that nothing gets touched.

What happens if the hours on my site and on Google do not match?+

The customer believes Google, because that is what they see first, and if that is the wrong one they turn up at a closed door. Opening hours live in two places and have to be changed in both; that is why both changes should cost two minutes, not two emails.

Whose name should the domain and hosting be in?+

Your company, always, even if somebody else manages them. Being able to edit the site is worthless if the domain, the hosting and the email are in the name of whoever built it: the day you want to change supplier, you are locked out of your own house.

How long does a website like this take?+

A one-page landing, one or two weeks from the moment we have copy and photos. A ten-page site, three to five weeks depending on how long the material takes. What delays a project is not the design, it is the photos and the copy, and that gets much shorter when they are prepared before starting.
