L'Hospitalet de Llobregat has 282,299 residents in 12.40 km², according to the Idescat municipal figures. That is 23,561 people per square kilometre: the highest density in Spain and one of the highest in Europe. For a business here that changes the rules. You have thousands of potential customers ten minutes away on foot and, within that same radius, dozens of competitors. Web design in L'Hospitalet is not about ranking across Catalonia: it is about winning the search made three streets from your door.

Distance here is measured in doorways, not kilometres
When somebody searches for a service on their phone, Google blends relevance, distance and prominence to decide who to show. In a city this compact, distance stops being a useful filter: five businesses in the same trade can sit within a three-hundred-metre radius and all five qualify as "near me".
When distance ties, the other two decide. And both can be worked on: relevance means your site and your listing say exactly what you do in the words your customer uses; prominence means there is activity, reviews and content behind it. That is what separates the first result from the one on page two.
You compete with Barcelona without being Barcelona
The other particularity of L'Hospitalet is the border. Collblanc and La Torrassa sit right against Sants; the Gran Via and Fira area looks towards El Prat and Barcelona; Bellvitge has its own ecosystem around the hospital. Plenty of people living here search without distinguishing the municipality, and results mix businesses from both sides.
That reads both ways. The bad news: you compete with Barcelona sites built up over years. The good news: if your page makes clear where you are and why you are closer to hand, you win the comparison in your area without fighting for the whole metropolitan region. What we explain for the capital in web design in Barcelona applies here in reverse: do not dilute, concentrate.

The neighbourhoods do not behave the same
The city has twelve neighbourhoods and they are not one single market. Selling in Centre is not the same as in Santa Eulàlia, Can Serra, Sant Josep, La Florida or Bellvitge: the building stock changes, so does the age of the customers, the spending power and even the time of day people go out to shop.
When an area page is worth building
Only if you can say something only someone working there knows: the walk-ups on certain streets, the impossible parking at certain hours, the jobs you have already done in that area. On that basis, a page per neighbourhood stands on its own and brings in very specific searches.
When it is better not to
If you are going to repeat the same text with the neighbourhood name swapped, do not build it. Google has been spotting that pattern for years and one thin page drags the others down. Better one solid service page plus a well-kept Google Business Profile, which is what distributes by proximity.
What decides the call on a website here
- Where you are, in text and on the first screen. Street and neighbourhood written out, not just an embedded map. Google reads text; it ignores almost everything inside a map.
- Real opening hours, including August and the midday break. In a city of split schedules, this alone answers half the calls.
- A price or a range. You do not need the full rate card: a "from" figure filters enquiries and saves time on both sides.
- WhatsApp visible without scrolling. Almost everything here gets settled by message, and a twelve-field form is a toll.
It sounds basic and it is still what most of the sites we review are missing. The pretty part of the design helps people take you seriously; these four things are what make the phone ring.

Spanish, Catalan or both?
The honest answer is the usual one: look at the language people write to you in. In L'Hospitalet everyday commercial conversation is mostly in Spanish, but there are customers and paperwork in Catalan, and searches happen in both. If your business gets messages in both, having both versions widens the searches you can appear for without duplicating the commercial work.
What does not pay off is a half-finished translation nobody maintains afterwards. Worse than not having one.
Mistakes we see on local websites
- Saying "Barcelona" to look bigger. You end up ranking in neither L'Hospitalet nor Barcelona, because you are not relevant to either.
- The address only in the footer, in small print. Or worse, inside an image.
- Stock photos on a neighbourhood business. People here recognise the streets: one real photo of your premises is worth ten library shots.
- The site built and then abandoned. Old hours, three-year-old prices and a latest update from 2023.

Your website, your listing and what AI answers
In local searches the first thing to appear is not a website: it is the map with three businesses. Your page and your listing have to say the same thing —same name, same address, same phone— or both lose strength. The detail is in our guide to the Google Business Profile.
And there is a third place where people already look for you: AI assistants. When someone asks a chatbot where to get something fixed in their area, the answer is built from what is written and organised on websites and listings. That is GEO positioning and it runs on the same material. It also helps to mark up your business details with local business structured data, the standard way of telling a machine who you are, where you are and when you open.

We are based in Palamós and work across the metropolitan area
Our office is in Palamós, a little over an hour away on the AP-7. Most of the work on a website happens over video calls and WhatsApp; we come in person when it adds something, usually the first meeting and the day we photograph the premises. What distance does not change is that somebody picks up the phone and that a small change gets done the same day.
We work with businesses across the province of Barcelona, including the metropolitan area coordinated by the AMB, and with clients in Girona going back years.
The two-minute test before you commission anything
Take your phone, open an incognito window and search for your service plus your neighbourhood. See who appears on the map and where you stand. Then open your own site on mobile data and count the seconds until you can tap the phone number; if it drags, start there, and we explain it in why your website is slow on mobile.
Those two answers tell you whether your problem is design, search positioning or your listing. Message us on WhatsApp with your business name and we will tell you what we see, no strings attached and the same day.
