Web design in Blanes: the gateway to the Costa Brava is crossed on a phone

In a town like Blanes, most of your summer customers choose you from their phone, often before they've even packed and often in another language. The website isn't a brochure: it's the first person who answers.

When a local business asks us for web design in Blanes, there's one idea we put on the table over the first coffee: in Blanes, most of your summer customers don't walk past your door before choosing you. They choose you from their sofa, hundreds of kilometres away, looking at their phone on a Tuesday in March, comparing three open tabs. The website isn't the shop window for whoever walks down the street; it's what someone sees who hasn't arrived yet.

A rock by the sea with striped beach umbrellas on a Mediterranean beach, the typical scene of Costa Brava towns like Blanes

Blanes is the gateway to the Costa Brava, and half the summer comes through it

Blanes has a title no brochure made up: it's where the Costa Brava begins. The rock of Sa Palomera splits the beach in two and marks the exact point where the coastline stops being flat and turns rugged. That, plus being a short train ride from Barcelona, makes the town one of the first stops for anyone heading down to the coast. According to Idescat, Blanes has 41,935 residents in 17.66 km², a density of 2,403 people per square kilometre that is already high. But the figure that changes everything arrives in season.

That same Idescat counts a seasonal population of +5,886 people, and on top of that come those who don't count as residents but sleep here: 3,650 hotel beds and 10,242 campsite pitches. Read that number properly: Blanes has almost three times more campsite pitches than hotel beds. This isn't a luxury resort destination, it's the realm of the campsite and the family apartment, of people arriving with the kids, the cooler and the beach umbrella. Around 20% of registered residents are foreign, and in July and August that mix gains the French, Dutch and German visitors who fill the area's campsites. All those people, as the Ajuntament de Blanes points out, arrive not knowing the town and decide where to eat, where to shop and what to do with their phone in hand.

The Blanes tourist comes by day, with the family, phone in hand

Here's the difference from a neighbourhood business. In a neighbourhood, a good share of your customers already know you exist because they walk past your door. In Blanes, a huge number of customers have never walked past and may not do so until the day they turn up with a towel over their shoulder. And someone staying at a campsite or an apartment doesn't book a restaurant three weeks ahead: they decide on the spot, on the beach, with sand on their fingers. «Where do we eat today?», «is this open on Sundays?», «is there anything to do with kids if it rains?». These are here-and-now searches, a few metres from your business, and the winner is whoever shows up and makes it easy.

That same visitor, besides, doesn't only come to lie in the sun: Blanes has a magnet that fills whole mornings, the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, one of the most visited Mediterranean botanical gardens, perched above the sea. Whoever goes up to Marimurtra in the morning comes down to have lunch, buy a souvenir and have a drink in the afternoon, and decides all of that looking at their phone. If you don't show up when they search, you don't just lose that one sale: you're not even on the shortlist they choose from.

Your Google profile and your website have to say the same thing

Your opening hours, address and phone live in two places at once: your website and your Google Business profile. In a seasonal town, where half the street changes its hours between winter and summer, out-of-date hours mean a customer standing in front of a closed shutter, annoyed, who won't come back and sometimes even leaves you the review. Having the two places say the same thing isn't a technical detail: it's what decides whether the tourist's stroll ends at your door or the one next door.

It has to load and make sense on a phone right away

Whoever looks you up in August is standing in the street, one-handed, in a hurry, with the sun on the screen. If the site is slow to open or you have to zoom in to find the phone number, they leave before seeing what you offer. That's why we build it for the phone first: the important stuff —what you are, where you are and how to get in touch— has to be readable and tappable without fighting the screen. On a computer and a tablet it looks just as good, but in summer the phone rules.

But Blanes isn't only August: it's also a town that works all year

It would be a mistake to build the website thinking only about summer. Blanes is a real town twelve months a year: it has a working fishing port and fish market, lifelong local shops, trades, workshops, and the gardening and plant nurseries that give work to the whole Baix Tordera strip. Those customers —the resident who shops in October, the person from the next town who comes to sort something out in February— don't leave in September, and they're the ones who pay for the winter.

So a good website has to serve the August tourist looking for a terrace just as well as the February local checking your hours on a Tuesday afternoon. The same website, done well, does both. The problem appears when it's built only for the pretty beach photo and forgets the practical side of the rest of the year: the winter hours, the phone you answer yourself, the service that actually puts food on the table when the campsites close.

Get found in Blanes and across La Selva

A pretty website that doesn't show up when it matters is worth little. The real work is making you appear when someone searches for what you do in Blanes, in Lloret, in Malgrat or across the rest of the La Selva comarca, which is where a good share of your winter customers come from. And there's a new reader that counts more each day: artificial intelligence. When someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini for «a good place to eat in Blanes» or your service nearby, the assistant recommends whoever explains themselves clearly. That's what getting AI to recommend you is about, and it starts with a website that says, plainly, what you do and where.

And since customers here arrive from half the continent, language isn't a whim. A website only in Spanish leaves out a huge part of who would look for you; that's why we build the important pages in Catalan and Spanish —and in English or French when your business calls for it— properly written, not run through an automatic translator, so each customer finds you in their own language.

How much web design in Blanes costs

We say it plainly, which hardly anyone does, and it's published on pricing.

  • Tu Landing: 100 € a month. One well-built page, for the business that lives off one thing and needs to convince on a single screen: a beach bar, a holiday apartment, a specific service.
  • Tu Web: 200 € a month. Up to ten pages and one article a month, what a restaurant with a menu, a shop with several sections or a campsite that wants to explain its facilities needs.

Both include domain, hosting, email and maintenance, with the domain in your name. If you also want someone running the seasonal campaigns and the tracking, the full plans are 400, 750 and 1,500 € a month. All plus VAT and with no lock-in: if one month you decide to stop, you stop. How we do your web design in Blanes

Good web design in Blanes isn't built the same for everyone. We work with businesses in Girona and across the Costa Brava, and Blanes is right next door. We start from something concrete: who you sell to and when. A restaurant that makes its money in July isn't the same as a hairdresser that lives off locals all year; the site is built differently for each. And we build it so you can touch it yourself: changing the seasonal hours or posting the dish of the day shouldn't cost you an email to the agency.

If you're from another spot on the coast and want to see how we approach the same service in a similar place, web design in Lloret de Mar is right here, ten minutes away: a different kind of tourism —more international hotels, more nightlife— but the same underlying idea, getting found before the business across the street.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about web design in Blanes

How much does web design in Blanes cost?+

Tu Landing is 100 € a month (one page) and Tu Web 200 € a month (up to ten pages and one monthly article), both with domain, hosting, email and maintenance included and the domain in your company's name. The full presence plans are 400, 750 and 1,500 € a month. All plus VAT and with no lock-in.

Does the website have to be in several languages?+

In Blanes, almost yes. A lot of visitors come from abroad, so we prepare the important pages in Spanish and Catalan, and in English or French if your business needs them, properly written and not with an automatic translator. We also make Google understand each version as the same content in another language, so each customer finds you in theirs.

Will it look good on a phone?+

It's designed for the phone first, because that's where your summer customer decides, often right on the beach. The phone number, the hours, the map and the booking button have to be readable and tappable without zooming. On a computer and tablet it also looks perfect, but in season the phone rules.

Will the website work out of season too?+

That's exactly the idea. Blanes isn't only August: it has a port, shops and residents who buy all year. The site is built to serve the July tourist just as well as the February local, with the winter hours and the day-to-day service clearly visible, not hidden behind the beach photo.

Will I show up on Google when people search in Blanes?+

That's half the job. The website and your Google profile have to be well built and say the same thing so you appear when someone searches for your type of business in Blanes, both in the results and on the map. We work on it together with the Google Business profile, which is what rules local searches.

Who owns the domain and the email?+

Your company, always, even if we manage them. Being able to edit the website is worth nothing if the domain and the email are in the name of whoever built it: the day you want to change provider you're locked out of your own house. It's included in the plans and in your name.

How long until it's ready for the season?+

A one-page landing, in one or two weeks from when we have the text and photos. A multi-page site in several languages, three to five weeks depending on how long the material takes. What delays a project most isn't the design, it's the photos and the text: if they're prepared in time, it arrives well before the season.
