Digital marketing in Terrassa: three economies, three different plans

Industry, high-street retail and trades that work on site all live here. Giving the three of them the same marketing plan is the most expensive way to reach none of them.

Most guides to digital marketing in Terrassa apply equally to a shop in the centre and to a workshop on an industrial estate, which is precisely why they serve neither. Three very different ways of making a living coexist in this city, and each one gets searched for differently. It is worth starting by working out which one you are in.

The numbers that explain the city

Terrassa has 228,294 residents spread across 70.16 km², according to the municipality in figures published by Idescat. That is 3,316 people per square kilometre: a third of Badalona's density. That is not a geographical footnote, it is a behavioural difference: plenty of people here take the car to shop or to get something fixed, and the radius they search in is wider.

Of the employment, 80,360 general-scheme registrations tied to accounts in the city split into 61,975 in services, 10,545 in industry and 7,755 in construction, plus 13,575 people registered as self-employed. And industry generates 799.8 million euros of gross value added a year, almost as much as retail's 868.0. Three economies with real weight, not one plus two footnotes.

The plan changes depending on who you sell to

The three profiles that follow use the same tools, but in a different order and with different weight. Picking the right starting point is the decision that saves the most money in the first year, because each piece takes months to pay off and getting it wrong costs exactly that time.

If you sell to the public

Retail, hospitality, clinics, academies, personal services. Here the game is played on a phone and within a few kilometres, and the order is fairly clear.

First the Google profile, which decides who shows on the map. Google combines relevance, distance and prominence, and in a spread-out city distance penalises less than in a compact one: somebody from Sant Pere may well end up at a business in Ca n'Anglada without thinking twice. That widens your radius, but it also lets more competitors into yours.

Then a site that loads fast and shows the phone number and WhatsApp without scrolling, plus fresh reviews that get answered, which is what breaks the tie when a customer compares two similar places. We cover it in how to get Google reviews.

If you sell to other companies

With 10,545 registrations in industry and a supplier network around it, Terrassa has a great many companies invoicing other companies. And there the Google map matters little: nobody picks their machining supplier by proximity.

Something else decides it. A website that explains the service with concrete cases —what you did, for which sector, in how long—, quotes that go out fast, and content answering the technical questions that come up before anybody asks for a price. The Google profile still makes sense so people find you by name and for reviews, but it is not the main piece.

And if your internal process has outgrown itself, that is a different conversation: custom software and automation. The Terrassa Chamber of Commerce publishes events and training for local companies, and it is a good place to start moving offline.

If you work on site or at customers' homes

Installers, builders, locksmiths, technical services: 7,755 registrations in construction alone. This group has no shop for anyone to visit, so the map behaves differently and the area has to be spelled out by name.

  • Define the service area on the profile and name it on the site: Terrassa, Sant Quirze, Matadepera, Viladecavalls, Rubí, Ullastrell.
  • Answer fast. In an emergency the winner is whoever picks up, not whoever has the better website.
  • Show finished work. Before and after, with your own photos. It converts better than anything else in these trades.
  • Give a price range even if you cannot commit to a figure; we argue it in showing prices on your website.

What works for all three

Underneath the differences there is a common base, and it is the one almost nobody has in order:

  1. The domain and the access in your name, not in the name of whoever built the site.
  2. One page per thing you sell, not a single one with everything inside.
  3. Somebody who replies within a written deadline, not "when they can".
  4. Content every month, answering what people ask you on the phone.
  5. Four numbers reviewed, not a thirty-page report.

If that base fails, the sector makes no difference: the rest of the budget goes on plugging holes.

A city you drive around

Those 70 km² change two practical things. First, "near me" searches spread out more than in a compact city, so it pays to be well set up on the profile even if your premises are not central. Second, if you run ads the radius cannot be the town centre: people move around here, and they also come from Sant Quirze, Matadepera, Viladecavalls or Rubí.

That said, widening the radius without adjusting the schedule and the search terms is the classic recipe for spending without selling. We cover it in full in why a campaign spends and doesn't sell.

Mistakes we see around here

  • The industrial workshop with a shop's website. Nice photos and not one real case or spec sheet.
  • The shop with a half-finished profile, no services listed and opening hours from two summers ago.
  • The installer who never states their area, and takes calls from places they will not travel to.
  • Ads running all day when the phone is only answered from nine to six.
  • Five social accounts open and none with a post from this quarter.

What to check every month

Four numbers, and they are the same for all three profiles:

  • How many people arrive searching for what you do, not for your name.
  • How many calls and direction requests come out of the Google profile.
  • Which pages are climbing in search and which have stalled for months.
  • How many enquiries each channel brought and how many became customers.

And a check for today: take your phone, step outside and search for your service plus "Terrassa". If you are not in the map or on the first screen, you know where to start. For the detail on that part, see SEO in Terrassa.

We work from Palamós and cover the Vallès

Our office is in Palamós and we look after companies across the province of Barcelona. The day-to-day work —researching searches, writing, fixing the site, reviewing campaigns and measuring— runs just as well over a video call with a shared screen. We come in person when it adds something: the first meeting, seeing the workshop or shop and taking the photos the profile needs.

If you are not sure which of the three groups you are in, message us on WhatsApp telling us what your company does and where your customers come from today. We will tell you which plan fits and where we would start. No strings, same day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about digital marketing in Terrassa

What does digital marketing cost in Terrassa?+

Our plans are published: 100 € a month for the one-page landing, 200 € for the site with up to ten subpages, 400 € for the plan with articles, Google profile and reviews, 750 € for the one that adds campaigns and 1,500 € for the one that adds social media. All excluding VAT, no lock-in and migration included. Custom software and AI audits are quoted per project.

I sell to other companies, not to the public. Does the same plan work?+

No, and it is worth saying so early. In business-to-business sales the Google map carries little weight: nobody picks an industrial supplier by proximity. What matters more is a website explaining the service with concrete cases, how fast a quote goes out, and content answering the technical questions that come first. The profile still helps people find you by name and for reviews.

I work on site and have no shop. How do I show on the map?+

By setting the service area on your Google profile and naming those towns on the website too: Terrassa, Sant Quirze, Matadepera, Viladecavalls, Rubí. In these trades what converts best is showing finished work with your own photos and answering fast, because in an emergency the winner is whoever picks up.

Where do I start on a small budget?+

With a complete Google profile and the first screen of your website, phone number and WhatsApp visible. Those two return the most enquiries for what they cost and can be finished within a few weeks. Ads and social media come later, once there is somewhere to send people.

How long does it take to show?+

The Google profile moves within weeks if it was abandoned or wrongly categorised. Visits arriving from search take longer: you normally start seeing calls between the third and sixth month, and it climbs from there if the content pace holds. Ads bring traffic the same day they are switched on.

Does the agency need to be based in Terrassa?+

No, but it does need to know the area and you need to be able to talk to whoever does the work. We are in Palamós, we work over video calls with a shared screen, and we come in person when it matters: the first meeting, the photos of the workshop or shop and the important reviews.
